  • Why have so many people become posessed by evil?

9 killed in a murder suicide in Missouri, teen girls wanting to join ISIS, little kid being molested or raped, rampages in shopping malls, mass kidnapping of children to sell as sex slaves in Syria, ambushing law enforcement officers, extreme abuse of pets and children, and countless other examples.

    Just a small sampling from recent Drudge and other sources Headlines;
Man with '666' tattoo stabs man in church...
CCTV shows British schoolgirls at Istanbul bus station on way to ISIS...
Spiritual leader 'manipulated 400 men into removing testicles so they could be closer to God'...
2 killed after bomb explodes near police station in southern Egypt
Death toll in eastern Ukraine tops 6,000, UN human rights office says
Man goes on killing spree after mom's death from illness
Police: Teen knocked out school bus driver while bus was in motion
Police find body of missing woman

What is the matter with people? Why have some become brain dead that they would go join an organization that turns them into sex slaves or brainwashes them into castrating themselves? Is it moral decay? something in the food or water? Or brain damage from drug use?

Proliferation of communication technology and instant news services. Improved police communication outlets. The loss of privacy making criminal acts easier to detect. A public less inclined to look the other way concerning personal behavior.

Most importantly the size of the population making the frequency of pervert actions both more likely and more numerous.

It's been going on since the dawn of man. Why this is just getting attention I'm not sure.

                    Hi Ron

I guess if go back through any era of human existence you'll come across such horrors & atrocities. Even more worrying would be the fact that many would be deemed as reasonable at the time.

                      Hi

Would certainly agree that widespread availability and almost 'instant reporting' has made such stories more common place in a persons perception. If you go back say to the C19 and beyond, you'd maybe get some news from a few counties away or a big national story, but such stories from abroad were rarely reported unless it involved a countries citizens directly.

The first 3 stories in Ron's list all have a 'religious' facet to them and possibly another. Many people believe what is and has been done in the name God, has been the biggest evil visited upon man.

                      Regards

Disintegration of the family unit. Loss of moral standards. Lack of any sort of moral compass. Lack of any goal or purpose to their lives, and knowledge that our society will consider perpetrators the "victims" and that they have little to fear from the courts, while the media will grant them instant celebrity status.

As for larger atroocities and brush fire wars, what is there to stop them? No one fights to defeat anyone else anymore. Anyone who stands against Islam/ISIS is openly condemned in the UN and by the world media, and anyone who stands with Ukraine is equally reviled, while America is in the hands of a Muslim apologist who cowers in the White House while mumbling meaningless platitudes.

Meanwhile, America has fought the world's battles for so long that all of the other nations have lost the ability and the will to defend themselves and have forgotten and forsaken what it means and what it costs to be self-reliant. Welcome to the high cost of liberty at the expense of America.

                          This.

Plus the fact that in a information glut you really need to get some body count to make the news.

And still it only scratches the surface.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

I do believe that we know so much more about what is going on because we receive notice of it as soon as it happens. I have been astonished at instantaneous news in police chases being broadcast and tornados being broadcast as they happen, or people broadcasting their own recordings of events. How many times do we see “Breaking News” on the local TV channels and see the wind up of criminal happenings and the police working a crime scene.

We were once several hours or a day or more removed from any event. Now we can be a witness in a lot of things and see other things almost as soon as it has happened. I think immediacy is more intense and makes things more real and more frightening for us.

I’ve read a lot of old newspapers in genealogical searches and bad things happened often but back in the 1870s and 1880s it might take a week or more for Indian War things to be reported from out west, local murders, robberies and suicides (more common than you might imagine) might take several days to be reported in a local weekly, and international things might take several weeks. News back in the day had an historical aspect to it rather than an instantaneous thing.

The instantaneous is much more frightening than historical.
