  • 300 US Marines Trapped at Base ?

If this is true, I hope the President doesn't order something like yesterday's Yemen surrender.

The officials said another group of insurgents then attacked the heavily-guarded Ain al-Asad air base five km southwest of the town, but were unable to break into it.

About 320 U.S. Marines are training members of the Iraqi 7th Division at the base, which has been struck by mortrar fire on at least one previous occasion since December.

U.S. officials in Iraq were not immediately available for comment, and a defence ministry spokesman declined to comment on the situation in Anbar.

Well, they're on their own... By the time Obama and the White House makes a decision on this they will have retired from the military...

He did say no boots on the ground.

As long as he hasn't ordered them to surrender they should be able to fend for themselves until additional boots on the ground show up.

        Sorry, but Obama is busy.

Obama is inside Air Force One, which just landed at SFO a few mins ago. He's heading to San Francisco for a fundraiser tonight. Then he'll be spending the weekend in Palm Springs.

          My worst jump story:
My 13th jump was on the 13th day of the month, aircraft number 013.
As recorded on my DA Form 1307 Individual Jump Log.

Reminds me of the quote from Gen. Chesty Puller:

He can't do that, can he? And they wouldn't have to comply, would they?

If they were told to surrender and actually did it, they wouldn't be Marines.

I they were told by the administration to surrender it would be a political debacle that Obama could never recover from. He'd be seen as far worse than Jimmy Carter and the Iran hostage situation.
