I think you may have set a record for the number of inaccuracies per lines in a single post.

Inaccuracy #1: CV has reduced the demand for energy. This has given energy providers an incentive to close excess capacity. For most of them, that is coal driven plants. They're no longer economically viable.

Inaccuracy #2: This is just flat out untrue. Besides, hundreds of thousands die every year from the use of coal.

Inaccuracy #3: Renewables, especially onshore wind, is now cheaper than coal. Which is why many coal fired plants are closing. Energy providers aren't stupid.

In all seriousness, why do you care about coal? Coal, as an energy source, is ancient technology. It kills the people who mine it and it kills the people who breath its pollution and its a huge source of CO2. Why do you support that? Do you have stock or something?

Oh, and some facts would be nice, too.

          Facts :
China and India produce 55 % of the world's coal, while they have only a third of the world population .
The Indian Coal production was going up between 1997 and 2018 from 319 million ton to 764 million ton .
The reason is that the average Chinese and Indian can not afford renewable energy.
Conclusion : if you stop the coal production, dozens of millions of Indians and Chinese will die .
And I do even not mention Africa .
          Other fact :
18 % of the power mix in the US and in India is covered by renewables .
Fossile raw materials as gas, oil, coal will always remain more important as they are cheaper .
Renewables are only toys of the liberal billionaires .
Germany is the country that uses most renewables and ..the electricity price in Germany is higher than in most other countries. In 5 years (2013-2018 ) it was going up by 25 % : from 24 to 30 euro cent, and this caused a lot of sufferings in East Germany and is one of the reasons for the rise of the AfD.

As have been mentioned in other posts, the oil industry has known about climate change for a lot longer than 30 years. But this article is interesting in that you can watch a film about climate change, created 30 years ago, by an oil company.

Yes. A film about climate change. 30 years ago. By an oil company.

Climate change deniers have a number of defensive positions, which they fall back on depending on how indoctrinated they are:

                            1. It's not happening
                            2. It's not us
                            3. It's not that bad
                            4. It's easier to deal with the fallout than change our behavior

So, we're at #4 in some areas. What's the plan?
