  • Ex President of Peru commits suicide upon arrest

Apparently involved in the largest corruption scandal in quite a while. When they showed up with a warrant he killed himself.

Now that's a politician you can admire: no whining about fake news and witch hunts, no phony baloney apologies, no stomach churning promises of a comeback. He took responsibility for his actions -- and his punishment -- like a man. All politicians should emulate his example. He's an R Bud Dwyer for the 21st century.

If only we had more politicians like that then we'd have fewer politicians like that.

His only remorse for his actions was because he got caught and he didn't want to take the humiliation or the jail time. Same sort of morality Himmler and others of that ilk showed

The moral of the story is that the cops took too damn long to catch up to Himmler & Co.

Does a cancer cell's life matter? Does a virus' life matter? Does a politician's life matter?

"Freedom and honor" are the exact opposites of "politician." R Budd Dwyer was the last American politician who displayed so much as a shred of personal honor.

A very good question, given the scope of the corruption involved.

Yes. He did it in front of cameras at a news conference.
