  • Mexican Drug Lord 'El Chapo' Escapes From Prison

MEXICO CITY (AP) Top drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has done what Mexican authorities promised would not happen again after his re-capture last year escaped for a second time from a maximum security prison.

Mexico's top security official says Guzman escaped through an elaborate tunnel in his cell.

Security Commission Monte Alejandro Rubido says the tunnel was more than 1,500 meters (yards) long and had ventilation and stairs. Officials also found a motorcycle that was used to remove dirt, Rubido said Sunday.

More likely a few people on the inside now have very, very healthy pensions.

Could well be a combination of carrot and stick... Not good news as Mexico was cleaning up the cartels. Still too much dirty money swimming around as well as highly armed killers... not good...

El Chapo's 'Official' Twitter Takes On Trump, Mexican President

After the brazen escape, there are the "official" tweets.

Following notorious drug cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's escape from a maximum security Mexican prison over the weekend, attention has been drawn to the alleged "official" Twitter account under the name @ElChap0Guzman which has over 300,000 followers.

Since El Chapo's escape, the account has had several tweets (in Spanish), including "Wits are better than strength and that has worked for me" as well as "Life takes many turns, one day you're in the hole and the next day you're on top."
            ...
The one addressed to Donald Trump which cannot be directly translated due to its foul language basically tells him to stop with his remarks or else. Donald Trump who had taken to Twitter to blast Mexico as well as the U.S for El Chapo's escape reportedly alerted the FBI after the Twitter threat.

I imagine some Republicans would cheer on any hit squad El Chapo sends after the Donald.

Is it wrong that every time I hear the name 'El Chapo" I think of this guy?

Whose to say that a certain Texan with a Mexican-born wife hasn't already payed them.

You need to help people. I know it's not very Republican to say but you need to help people. DONALD TRUMP, 2016

This is why the border debate is not about racism. We are importing this type of mayhem. Mexican's who come here have to realize that their culture is flawed and that it is not the fault of past U.S. policies. If Mexicans can't accept that they should stay in Mexico and the liberals who paint the U.S. relations with Mexico as racist should move to Mexico to help fix it.

...or maybe they took the job in the first place because they were on the payroll of the cartel?

With ~ 15 billion USD renevue per year, the Sinoala cartel's finances make many MNCs look like amateurs.

Enough money to buy not only low-rank members of Mexico's administration/LEO/military, but very likely many very high-rank officials.

The cartels' income is probably keeping many companies in the white economy afloat with loans through middlemen/banks.

The flawed democracies in South-America have led the cartel to grow into state-within-states. It's hopeless.

It'll be fun and horrifying to watch the domestic political consequences if he does order a hit on Trump.
