Yep, and the Danes (who?) beat Italy, or so I am told.

It is truly the end of civilization.

      Denmark and Italy drew 0-0.

England lost because of 2 stupid mistakes by individual players in injury time.

Normally, I don't actually "do" Football - couldn't care less. But I did have the match on in the background - and from what I can tell, we got to full-time and got complacent. After leading the whole match 1-0, the French scored twice in one minute during injury time.

        Now THAT'S harsh!

Thanks. The Italians here seem to be taking that as a defeat -- I guess the expected better, just as the Dutch did.

The Germans should have won, but since I am surrounded by Dutch, I am being PC.

I was at HQ AFCENT in the Netherlands when the Dutch beat both England (I'm English) and the Germans to win Euro 88. Fortunately, they did seem to enjoy picking on the Germans more!!

Unfortunately for all of us, I believe the French will win the whole thing (unless Ethiopia declare war against Eritrea - then the French will probably surrender).

Reported on the news here today that a 47 y.o. Englishman was arrested and deported from Portugal to serve 2 years in prison in the UK for inciting a riot.

Yes, 12 people were in Court yesterday, another 33 today. It's a stain on my country. Although, without wanting to make excuses, the rioting has been taking place some 300 miles away from the actual Football, and it's been suggested that these aren't "Football Hooligans", just your avergae "Holiday Hooligan" - people who would have been there anyway - which doesn't make it any better - they are still scum.
