    You never seem to realise you are the mirror opposite of those you traduce. You come from one extreme and you tilt at the opposite extreme. You have no consideration at all for those reasonable people who have a path they prefer BUT realise they can not get it all and are prepared to COMPROMISE in order find a middle path. You are forever looking for a hill to die on and you see even minor trifling disagreements as matter of principle that can not be conceded under any circumstances. A 'Death or Glory' attitude that gave use the ERG (Looney Brexiteers, Rees-Mogg ect) Charge Of The Light Brigade with the same result as the historical Charge. Indeed it now befalls the French to repeat their arse-saving act (it was French Cavalry that saved the Light Brigade from total annihilation) and 'rescue' Mrs May from her raving Looney MPs.

        Have you ever READ a history book ?

        The EU grew out of WW2 - not only the most destructive war in Human History, but yet another mass slaughter of Europeans by Europeans. The idea of us talking to each other first made a lot of sense - and still does.

        Nobody is denying that the EU is flawed, nor that the daft idea of an EU army has cropped up occasionally (and been booted into the long grass long before anyone took it seriously), but the EU and its aims are fundamentally well-intentioned.

        It's no secret that Scotland is about to re-open the independence question, and will almost certainly be re-admitted (if not simply remain) in the EU - the EU's support of Eire has seen to that.

              • Sargon has a clearer explanation, as usual;

                As the man said, May's idea of a deal is normally what gets forced on a country only after it lost a war.

                        Obviously. Neither is Germany, or France, or Italy, or anyone else. Scotland voted by nearly 2:1 to REMAIN in the EU, but every attempt by her representatives at Westminster to voice legitimate concerns have been ignored. The EU has stood behind Dublin throughout this entire mess, and Ireland has HAD to be taken into account (much to Westminster's chagrin).

                        The Brexiteers howled about, "Taking our country back," meaning they didn't want foreigners coming in, and forgetting entirely that there was nobody to take it back from. It wasn't Brussels, though, that introduced austerity, the bedroom tax, or universal credit. It isn't Brussels that takes our revenue and gives us pocket-money back, it isn't Brussels that runs up debts we don't want in our name, and it isn't Brussels that parked its nuclear arsenal 20 miles from our biggest city.

                              Public spending in Scotland is 16% higher than the UK average. It is the Scots who are taking the rest of the country's money. If it hadn't been for two profligate Scottish PMs there would be no need for austerity.

                                There is an old quote, made famous in May 1940 that applies equally to May -

                                "You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God- go!"
