The UK’s bid to fast-track its post-Brexit entry to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) failed today, after other countries expressed misgivings over Britain’s approach to tariffs.Wisdom is personal

The irony of Brexit is that it is in essence a move by very rich English people to push towards a far more extreme form of globalisation but it is dressed up in phony populism as a move to consolidate and strengthen UK unity and self determination.
It will certainly weaken the rights of UK citizens as it will weaken the laws which have come from the EU which protect the rights of individuals. That umbilical between an EU and the people of the UK which has consistently sought to limit the power of the State and of businesses over the citizen will be severed. It's back to the times when Britain was Great but the average person in the street was far poorer.
The presentation of the "Irish Issue" as some sort of scheme concocted by the treacherous Europeans and troublesome Irish to force the UK to stay in the EU is also complete nonsense. The border between Ireland and the UK is a British creation (literally; they created it in May 1921). The crass ignorance of their own history by the current Tory government is only surprising in that it is not surprising; Nobody really expects people of the limited intellectual stature Borris or Rees-Mogg or May to understand the history of somewhere that they don't really regard as part of their own country. The craven sycophantic toadying interspersed with crass belligerence by the Ulster Unionist Party is also no more than could be expected.
It's a strange thing to miss someone of the ability of Margaret Thatcher. It's even stranger to miss Ian Paisley.

The thing that those supporting their exit don't understand is that the public of the rest of the EU don't give a fk if they leave or not. The UK was never fully in the EU to begin with. If they were they wouldn't still be dealing in pounds.

Not looking well for the new 'open and completely free from burdensome regulation' Trade Deal with the US.

It looks like there has been an outbreak of pragmatic self interest in the UK government.

She has the support of the majority of the Tory Party. The majority of the Labour Party would, if given a free vote, vote for her deal. If given a free vote the Commons would vote for the May deal.
Cue zealots to backtrack on their years of shouting about the supremacy of the British Parliament.........

So, when the iceberg of Irish politics and EU regulations hit SS Brexit there should be no surprise that we get fanciful pronunciations about 'annexation' combined with the expected foot stamping, hand waving and jumping up & down. One of the many ironies here is the Tories talking about vassil States when that is exactly how they have always treated Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. They are an English party which rules the UK. They are the party who imposed Pole Taxes on Scotland first to see how it went before imposing them "at home"."The thing about quotes on the internet is that you cannot confirm their
