Should May cancel Trumpís visit to repay his egregious insult?

For Peteís sake what next with this guy?

I get he has to play to his Ďbaseí and feed them red-meat on a regular basis.
However this is getting ridiculous and totally destabilising.

He tells a British gutter press tabloid that a Brexit not to HIS liking will mean no trade deal between the US and UK and that thinks Boris Johnston would be a great PM.

Thatís essentially blackmail and interfering in the internal affairs of another country.

    You just donít do that.
Heís the US resident and needs to be an example and set diplomatic standards.

Of course his supporters donít care and just think ďheís telling it like it is and whatís wrong with that?Ē

Yes, yes heís not like other presidents and delights in upsetting various applecarts etc., etc.

But come on, this is one of the USís dearest allies and the one it has the greatest natural affinity with.
What a slap in the face and buffoonish insult!
Mayís domestic standing would leap threefold if she cancelled the rest of his visit or just refused to meet him again and refuse to issue any joint statement.

    What a mess!

Her Brexit can only be described as incompetent. In Trump's world you get fired for such gross negligence. The visit should be cancelled on the grounds that Trump has nobody competent to talk to.

To be fair to Trump May's plan for Brexit was dictated to her by Merkel the day before it was presented to the cabinet and is almost universally hated. Trump is being a good friend by points no out its flaws. One of the obvious flaws is that under May's (Merkel's) plan there can be no trade deals with anyone other than the EU.

Not in Washington. Well, he is going to visit Vlad. He'll have someone to talk to or most likely just listen to.

Trump is doing his best to ruin the western alliance.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

It is amazing how people who consider themselves liberal are so resistant to change when their beliefs are shown by history to be flawed. Perhaps the situation is best captured by the phrase.

Conservative is the new counter culture.

But, the media didn't get upset when Obama made a present of his speeches compilated on CD to the Queen, or when he sided with Argentina at the OAS over the Falkland Islands issue...

Yes, Trump is a boor. But, if he were a Democrat boor he'd get a pass on all of this.
