  • Merkyll, German freedom of speech and the humourless Turkish president.

This doesn't appear to have been commented on much here. A comedian is arrested for Merkylls immigration death dive and to appease a despot. Germans? Any comments? How is this going down. Surely you need rid of this loon?

    Which loon?

Edogan should have no say what goes on in other country's. He has more than enough trouble within Turkey.

I haven't read or heard what the so called comedian said so I cannot make a judgement call. E dog gone should be happy that American late show host haven't found him yet.

        Here you go:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has cleared the way for the prosecution of German comedian Jan Böhmermann, whose poem mocking Turkey's president has become the centerpiece of a clash between Germany's free-speech traditions and the government's efforts to safeguard its important relations with Turkey.

In a news conference Friday, Merkel emphasized that it will now be up to German courts to decide whether Böhmermann is guilty of insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. But critics — including members of her own government — have described it as a betrayal of values protecting open expression. . . . .

"Merkel allows prosecution of German comedian who mocked Turkish president," by Rick Noack, Washington Post, 15 Apr 2016
The law in question strikes me as strange, and Merkel has since announced that her government will seek to repeal it.

. . . . Merkel is currently under pressure to give her verdict on whether Germany’s state prosecutor should start proceedings against the TV presenter Jan Böhmermann, after the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan requested the comedian be prosecuted for allegedly defaming him in a “smear poem”.

The legal oddity that allows Turkey’s president to do so is paragraph 103 of the German criminal code, concerning insults against organs or representatives of foreign states – a paragraph so rarely used that even many seasoned lawyers and politicians had never heard of it until this week.

“Paragraph 103 has been around for ever, but has rarely been used,” said Holger Heinen, a lawyer who completed his PhD on the subject. . . . .

The Spectator has opened an 'insult Erdogan' poetry competition with a prize of £1,000.

            For example...

            Recep Erdogan is the Turk’ll
Never tire of rim-jobs from his circle
            Yet his chief-est delight
            (Now Khilafa’s in sight)
Are the felchings he gets from Frau Merkel

To my knowledge he has not been arrested though, and as I understand it Erdogan got himself a German lawyer and has filed a complaint under German law.

It is now up to a German court to decide the issue, which is as it should be.

Other than to conclude that Erdogan is indeed einen Präsident mit kleinem Schwanz, I see nothing wrong with the legality of the issue.

There once was a ruler of Turkey,
Who f****d goats like that Merkel of Germany.
                  But when a young man,
                  Comedian Jan,
Took note of this they took his liberty.

There once was a young poet in Germany,
Who mocked the goat f****g ruler of Turkey.
                  But despite what he thought,
                  He lacked the support,
Of the Chancellor who wrote off his liberty

There once was a comedian in Germany,
Who mocked Erdogan via the medium of poetry.
                  Yet the Turkish c**t called,
                  Frau Merkel who thought,
A prosecution would add to her legacy.

There once was a Chancellor of Germany,
With a taste for Middle Eastern dictatory.
She dragged out to the court,
                  A young man who thought,
That free speech was a democratic liberty.

"I know laughing at Erdo appeals,
But please try to think how he feels.
He can’t help it if he
                  Would much rather be
A meth ***** in fishnets and heels."

"When young Jan called Erdo a goat f****r,
Merkel’s elite ass surely did pucker.
But maybe the bloke just might have misspoke
                  – what he meant was Erdo’s a goat sucker."

                  A despotic tyrant from turkey
whos banging a bird called merkey
                  He loves killing kurds
                  and hates to be slurred
but crybaby's still a big ****in' jerky

What did you expect HPJ? Look at copenhagen's opening post, he claimed that the German chancellor had a comedian arrested for a poem, when in reality, she had allowed the state persecutor to check weather or not said comedian should be persecuted for "insulting a foreign head of state", which is an actual offense under German law, and the comedian's poem called the Turkish president a "goat f*cker" among other things, causing even his die-hard opponents to rally to his side, much to their chagrin.
Reaction to the 2016 Munich shootings:
Europe: "We are shocked and support you in these harsh times, we stand by you."
USA: "We will check people from Germany extra-hard and it is your own damn fault for being so stupid."

What I really expected wasn't a snarky reply.

The Chancellor is following German law as she is required. If some wanker thinks she should/could have done something else is is a mistake.
