  • Denmark police under reported sex crimes,

Police statistics have hidden a huge number of reports of rape, with as many as 700 per year being filed incorrectly.

Denmark recorded an average of 395 rape cases every year up to 2014. But an investigation by the Ministry of Justice has revealed the actual number to be closer to 1,100 annually, Metroxpress reported on Thursday.

The majority of the ‘missing’ reports were hidden in police statistics by giving them investigation numbers that did not classify them as rape cases. A number of police departments confirmed to Metroxpress that this was standard practice in cases where there was doubt as to whether a rape had actually occurred.

Though this practice was discontinued in November 2015, an unknown number of rape cases has failed to be recorded in official statistics.

Hanne Baden Nielsen, director of the Center for Sexual Assault (Center for Seksuel Overgreb), called the situation "astonishing".

“It is a huge number, but it doesn’t surprise me that that the actual number is higher than the official one,” she told Metroxpress.

Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) MP Pernille Skipper said she wasn't surprised by the revelation either.

“Unfortunately, this reflects what we are hearing from women that tell us that the police are sending them home,” she told Metroxpress.

Justice Minister Søren Pind said that a new practice will be implemented in order to improve the accuracy of statistics, but denied that the real figures had been concealed intentionally.

You want a reduction in violent crime? No problem.

The US has had a much-bragged upon-by-politicians radical drop in murders and violent crime, yet the prisons, courts, and parole systems are still overworked and getting busier...

If we withhold the arrest records or even worse just ignore crimes reported and do not investigate them our crime rate drops dramatically!
I guess that's the way to do it,

In the USA, the UCR (Uniform Crime Report) is one of the few official documents whose submission is voluntary, and there is no penalty for incorrect data so long as it is not done for criminal purposes.

So if an agency only reports half their aggravated assaults, its no harm, no foul.

I know agencies that convict 2-3 times the number of sex offenders than the crimes they report to the UCR.

If the decrease in violent crime that the UCR has been reporting since 1996 was real, there would be entire prisons sitting empty.

Yet overcrowding is a constant problem.

Strange how the apparent under-reporting of hundreds of rapes has not raised that much attention or concern. Perhaps some people will get lucky and they will find a Muslim link and you can all be duly outraged.

Or perhaps that has something to do with why they aren't reported. After all Denmark's neighbors to both the north and south did exactly that. Gotta protect those poor shunned migrants from the evil locals just waiting to pull that old Nazi flag out of their basement.

With what data? The UK has had a big increase in sex attacks too. It is very difficult find details on the race/ religion of the offender. There is the CEOP report with data now 4 years old. I am deeply suspicious info is being suppressed.

Rotherham being a possible indicator of such a suppressive problem .

That's just because you're an ignorant racist who should just shut up and listen to his betters. How else can they take care of you and usher in the multicultural utopia and world peace?

How about responding to what was said and not the things that you make up.

Yes because so many of you took an interest in this in the same way as you did to the attacks in Cologne. Wonder what was missing that made you all so disinterested in this?

Come one Sergio. A concern about public order and immigration doesn't mean one always has to push the racist button. This isn't about racism it's about culture. They're two seperate things. If when this subject always lead to accusations of racism we will never get anywhere .

What I said and is clear from this thread is that the same people up in arms about sex attacks, womens safety and crime are thoroughly uninterested when there was no clear and obvious link with Muslims. Selective outrage on their part.

I did not mention race - someone else did.
