  • Finally, a feel good story; Muslim's defended Christian Bus Passengers

Muslim passengers defended Christian passengers during an extremist attack on a bus in Kenya on Monday.
Members of the al-Shabab militant organization shot at a bus in Mandera, Kenya, forcing it to stop. Once the militants boarded the bus, they attempted to separate Muslim and Christian passengers, intending to kill the Christians on board, the BBC reported.
“We even gave some non-Muslims our religious attire to wear in the bus so that they would not be identified easily. We stuck together tightly," Abdi Mohamud Abdi

I was glad to read this story as well. We all see people mistreated, and fail to stand up for them when we have little to lose. This took guts!

These feel good stories happen every single day, we just dont hear all of them..We certainly do not hear the stories of ISIL prisoners fighting back..ISIL wont let that get out on their propaganda videos. During the Kenyan Mall attack it was civilian Muslims who were fortunately carrying guns. These armed civilian Muslims went in to the mall to fight Al Shabad while the Kenyan gov was stalling . All of the conservative gun rights people here on ACG should respect Islam and the Muslims due to the heroic Muslims of the world.

Imagine having an SS gunman put a gun to you and say, where is the Jew, ?? Well thats what happened yesterday...when some Muslims had a gun(s) put on them by Al Shabab members... Boy if this story doesn't make a difference for the tiny # of Anti Muslims on ACG ...I have no idea what would. I don't know what I would do if ten or 20 armed men stormed a bus or building I was at, and then put a gun to my face demanding me to identify Muslims or Jews. Again, All of the conservative gun rights people(and now the folks who like Christians) here on ACG should hold Islam and the Muslims in a positive light due to the heroic Muslims of the world. Some may say Taieb why should I respect Islam...just look at what ISIL does, look at how awful the Muslims are...Well in response to that I say you should respect Islam due to the actions of the Kenyan Muslims who refused to give up their Christian brothers. For the folks out their who read this story and say to themselves "who cares" well that means that you dont care about saving lives..and truthfully, all lives matter. Not just white lives, or black lives, or Muslim lives...all lives matter.

These Muslims were carrying out Jihad by protecting the Christians. These Muslims took on their struggle(Jihad) and came out as Angels.

Abdi Mohamud Abdi, a Muslim who was among the passengers in Monday's incident, told Reuters that more than 10 al Shabaab militants boarded the bus and ordered the Muslim passengers to split away from the Christians, but they refused.

"We even gave some non-Muslims our religious attire to wear in the bus so that they would not be identified easily. We stuck together tightly," he said.

"The militants threatened to shoot us but we still refused and protected our brothers and sisters. Finally they gave up and left but warned that they would be back," he said.

Think about this one folks...some fox news hosts and even Hillary Clinton calls ISIL "radical Jihadists". BUT Mrs Clinton does not say that those heroic Muslims who saved Christians are following Jihad...and that is not only a double standard..it is a display of ignorance to call ISIL Jihadists while not calling the action of a Muslim risking his life to save a Christian as Jihad. . If your not a little offended when ISIL is called Jihadists, then maybe you should be a little offended when ISIL is called Jihadists. If your a Christian, how would you feel to have your religion put on trial by some guy in the media due to the actions of one Christian or a group of Christians. How would you feel as a Christian to have a news reporter suggest that a group of people are radical Christian terrorists who follow radical Christianity.

A unique incident, to be sure.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

Perhaps we should start a OP that is for good news only!

I would be unsure about that. Having lived and worked in the Middle East I can personally attest to many incidents when ordinary citizens have publicly protested against harassment of non muslin foreigners (to wit me) by zealots. Nothing as serious as this case but not every person is a complete bigot. I have experienced similar tolerance in some places in Africa (although since I caught malaria I have tended to avoid Africa).

I think that is the incident that Philip Gourevitch ended We Wish to Inform You that Tomorrow We will be Killed With Our Families. Stories from Rwanda with. Staggering courage and like you said utterly humbling.
