  • The Godfather: What can it teach us?

What can The Godfather Books and Movies teach us: about war, about relationships, about business, about life in general?

Many things come to my mind - here is one

You have to pay to play

Whether it is a local shopkeeper paying protection money to the Corleones, the Corleones paying off Senators and Congressmen and Policeman, or people having their Italian-American POWs working in their bakeries become US citizens by an Act of Congress, we should learn that money is needed to lubricate the machinery of society.

I might add something about the nature of power later but I needed to get that one liner out of my system before I embarked on any deep thinking.

It teaches us that even if enough people say a film is great it 'aint necessarily so.

                        It's ok at best. Sorry.
