The sight of Brian Blessed swinging a mace with a huge smile on his face tops LOTR CGI any day.

This scene is absolutely the best. It's basically the Soviet "Red Dawn" - just as realistic and way funnier than what the Americans did. Unlike the American version, it was deliberately campy, though.

A bunch of Soviet boys repel the attack of the world's bourgeoisie

I have an inkling the director was told to show the Evil Capitalists for real but in fact he outdid some of the world's best trash movie studios.

I just rewatched "The Great Raid". The attack on the camp and the bridge is very intense and very thrilling. It is also surprisingly accurate. There really was a slaughter of the Japanese with loss of only one Ranger KIA.

Just keep in mind the Filippino Guerillas were the ones that were placed in a blocking position to keep a Japanese Armor Division away! I would expect a similar result anytime a Ranger Company (or two) took on a bunch of Camp Guards.

I have always like the movie 'Gladiator' and the battle scene between Rome and Germania.
