  • Hollywood Cop Movies

    Hi everyone !

I find there are too many cop movies done in Hollywood. They should produce less and concentrate on quality/substance. Too much on special effects and not enough on the real world ... the way it really happens. What do you think ?

Just like there are too many cop tv shows and lawyer tv shows, and doctor tv shows.

If they made them realistic the movies would be five minutes of holy crap followed by one hour 55 minutes of some guy typing. Audiences wouldn't show up. Film makers take license with most of the projects they work on, something as boring as 90% of police work has to be spruced up so people will pay to see it. Most of what's in theaters and on TV today is pretty lousy anyhow, it's not like cop movies are any different in that regard. The subject makes for great drama and excitement when embellished, just not the reality.

Exactly Lance. I don't recall any scenes with Dirty Harry doing any typing. And would we have it any other way? These are movies. They are supposed to be fun. Just enjoy them for what they are.

Not to mention waaay too many vampire movies and slasher films, coupled with an overwhelming Hollywood obsession with boobs and butts.

You have a good point on this one. Who wants to see someone typing at his desk. However, I find that e.g. car stunts are way overexagerated these days. A car can be just about demolished and is still rolling, passengers hardly have a scratch. The motorvehicle giants must really enjoy that.
