The effects look nice, but the trailer I saw told me to was going to stupid.
I am a simple man. I am by no means smarter than the average man. I am average...yet genius.

That's typical of any disaster movie. Twister, The Day After Tomorrow, Titanic. You watch these flicks for visual eye candy, not plot.
A new life awaits you in the off world colonies; the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure!

No matter how clever the special effects, it's still just another end-of-the-world flic.

Nothing beats "On the Beach" from 2002.

What they should make is a movie about what the human race would look like in a thousand years if the only two people to survive 2012 were John Cusak and a 12 year old girl.

What you meant to say was nothing beats On the Beach 1959.

That film leaves a truly grim message too. A slow inescapable total death for all.

I'm not expecting 2012 to be 'great' of course, few of the films ever make it past popcorn flicks though. I'll likely watch it all because I have something of a pet fascination with them. I even watch the truly dreadful ones.
I guess it's like how a lot of my friends can't get enough friggin zombie movies.

Not sure anyone here actually knows the real me.
              I didn't for a long time either.

The original film, starring Gregory Peck, did.
