  • The GI Joe movie

Ok I KNOW I am going to get razzed for this, but I saw it, and it wasn't 'dreadful', but it also isn't all that special.

I think the problem is the Transformers looked more 'fun'.

But I think the real story is there is just tooooo much action in film now.

There was soooo much action in the film your eyes get tired from trying to follow it all. Plus, well the good guys and bad guys in the film are so blurred together it's not easy to keep track.

Anyway, it's called GI Joe Revenge of Cobra. Keep that in mind.

After all, whining that a comic book movie looked shallow is the same as complaining that there is too much sex in pornos

But I think it's time Hollywood backed off a bit on the sheer volume of CGI and gave us some slow paced films with more acting and less action.
    My eyes are tired.

Not sure anyone here actually knows the real me.
    I didn't for a long time either.

No, THAT doesn't appear to be acknowledging my age yet

My son wants to see this movie.

So I guess I will take him.

Any chance to hang out with number one son.

The movie is yet more proof that assembling good looking models based on a script re-writing a much-loved comic book beyond all recognition is a sure-fire way of ruining the whole thing.

Alas, I fear that like Transformers, it will do well enough for them to continue to ruin the franchise with sequels.

Saw the film yesterday. I enjoyed it and thought it was better than Transformers 2.

The plot was well thought out and was presented well.
I did not like the Baroness angle all that much, that didn't jive with what I remember from the toon.
Another problem and its a small one one; Duke is a Captain in the Army, how come he is wearing a Major's rank on his dress uniform?

Bottom line: 4 stars and I rate it to be the third best film I've seen this year after Star Trek and Terminator.
If the art of war were nothing but the art of avoiding risks, glory would become the prey of mediocre minds. Napoleon

That's interesting contrast from a local friend that said he liked it because it was so utterly worthless it was funny. He then went on to discuss aspects of the film as if he had taught Speilberg everything he knows
I love listening to people spout off about movies in extreme 'knowing' detail as if they had all of Ireland's blarney crammed up their arse

My main complaint remains, the action was so fast so constant that it was hard on the eyes tracking it Not enough pauses where you could look away for 5 seconds to see if your bag of popcorn was empty

My wife didn't like that the action was nonstop. I liked it though, except for the poorly executed CGI of Scarlet on the bike.
