Having a Dialog with You again, is there anything that you could recomand
from the asian movie markets (besides the highly hyped up commercialized titles) ? You probably know now about my appetide for foreign movies dealing with history.
I am not familiar with what is currently being made in Vietnam. The only time that the subject of film ever came up between me and a family member in Vietnam I was told that most films on the Vietnam market are low quality Chinese films.

The best I can do for you is suggest the program listing at VIFF. While many are expatriate VN films, they do have some films from Vietnam.

SLUGA GOSUDAREV (2007) The Sovereigns Servant
    http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0476695/

A new movie about the war Sweden vs Russia:
Europe, 1709. Russia and Sweden are at war. Two French duelists are exiled by King Louis XIV of France: one to the side of Czar Peter the Great of Russia, the other to the side of King Charles XII of Sweden. Although separated by war and allegiance, fate has not finished with them....

    9 out of 10 Stars:
the movie is over 3 hours long, with the battle of Poltava shown in great detail almost for 60 minutes.
