Strange.Don't You know Assemble for example? Quite good war movie. Something similar to South Korean great Brotherhood of war. Want some links?

Given the political rules in China, I wouldn't imagine their films would generate much market interest in the West, and that's what drives distribution.

Take a look at India, which does produce tons of movies every year. They aren't distributed but rarely in the West, either.

The only films we get from that part of the world occasionally are Japanese, and not all that many of them when you think about the numbers involved.

It seems, however, that the whole world - except for the Islamofascist crowd - likes western films.

????? Well, there's plenty of Chinese/Asian movies and they're freely available on the internet - complete with subtitles.

This question is not intended as a joke:

Do any of the Islamic nations make films?

Amongst the Arab countries, Egypt would be the 'biggie', Mountain Man.

Amongst the non-Arab Islamic nations, Iran is well-respected internationally for its art films, and Turkey was once the fifth biggest filmmaker in the world.

I've never really heard about the state of cinema in Pakistan/Bangladesh or Indonesia ...

What sort of films are they? Romance, adventure of some sort, political thriller? And how well are they made?

No kidding? Thanks for the info.

What passes for an "art film" in Iran?

I followed he link, but I didn't make the connection to the single word "Prayers". My fault; it's been the worst week of my life, and it isn't over yet.
