Sorry, the best car chase ever (yes beating the one from To Live and Die in LA already posted and even better than the one in Bullitt) is from the ORIGINAL Italian Job. The things these guys do with a group of Mini's is awesome (and no CGI!):

            To Many

How about one of the best shootouts in cinematic history. The gun battle in the movie Heat when the cops are bounding up on Val Kilmer, Sizemore and Bobby D.
Love that movie and a great shootout!!

Yep, that was good, BUT, for pure driving I'll take "Ronin" and the big cars. It wasn't very long but the Jason Borne, "Borne Identity", driving scenes in a Mini were good too. (and I love Mini's - I drove one for 7 years)

                  This one from Ronin?

I'll give you a couple of points for that

I was thinking of the earlier one, going after "the package" but this one is great too, especially DeNiro doing the handbrake turn in that big honkin' car. Thanks, Steve

Worth a look, they should film a chase scene here:

I don't want to highjack the thread so I'll just say good clip. I have seen the race a couple of times on Speed Channel and it looks like it would be a ball to do.

Nobody has mentioned it yet, so I will. The Attack Helicopter Scene from "Apocalypse Now!". I can never hear "Ride of the Valkyries again without thinking "RUN CHARLIE!"...The "Never Go Into The Jungle" scene is pretty good also!

This one from Who Dares Wins:

Quite nonsensical but still a thrill to watch!

Wow, this brings back some memories from junior high school!

I loved this movie back in the early eighties! It's really cheesy but I still enjoy it.

It was released in the states with the title The Final Option.
