  • A Hollywood recruiting ad for the Navy. But it was fun, stuff get's blown up. It's a journey through every movie cliche that has even been written, and a cringe worthy, wince inducing attempt to intertwine the film with the board game. Completely forgettable plot. Akin to the HMS Victory being rolled out of dock to fight a time traveling Napoleon —it's that absurd— but it's fun. As long as you keep your expectations within the realm of reasonable, you'll enjoy it. I expect U.S. Navy vets will be beaming when they leave their seats.
...how useless it was to struggle against fortune, this being the burden of wisdom which the ages had bequeathed to him.

I sort of got that impression from trailers and such-it seemed like a Battle LA and Transformers type thing.

From the trailers, we finally see the use for blue navy camo! Totally useless and a waste of money but it looks nice for a movie!

            Once was enough for me.
"England expects that every man will do his duty!" (English crew members had better get ready for a tough fight against the combined French and Spanish fleets because that's what England expects! However, Scotland, Wales and Ireland appear to expect nothing so the Scottish, Welsh and Irish crew members can relax below decks if they like!)

I don't know about "over and over again" but I have been able to enjoy it more than once; and ignore the butchering of history while doing so (quite an achievement for me, I might add).

                            • I've always been a strange duck. I was never into superheroes,I didn't like cartoons, unless Bugs Bunny,(I liked Bugs,Foghorn Leghorn,Sylvester, and Yosemite Sam.) But the last few years all they wanna do is make comics into movies, and believe me,it isn't my thing. I know it is others, but I'd rather see a movie on George Rogers Clark or Lewis and Clark than The Avengers.

                              • I know plenty of people who are not into 'superheroes' and I wouldn't see them as being at all strange. Just another group of people with a particular set of preferences. I'm not hugely into superheroes myself but I'll watch and enjoy some of those movies with my son, on DVD/BluRay at home. I wouldn't pay cinema prices to see them. But then for me, there are usually only two possible reasons for going to the cinema; either

                                (a) To accompany a family member or friend who wants to go, or
                                (b) To see a movie I'm very eager to experience before it becomes available on DVD/BluRay (which is rare)

Btw, who the heck are George Rogers Clark and Lewis & Clark?
