I always thought that Burgess Meredith was a great actor and portraying Pyle one of his finest performances.

                  • I got the chance to get the tv and DVD player to myself the other day and re watched 'The quiet American'

Also 'Spirited away' - brilliant animation, as is 'Howls moving castle'

And 'Amelie', sorry, it is just a brilliant 'feel good' movie which I turn to if I feel hacked off.

I tried to watch that on Sunday. But I just can't get into how they over-dramatize everything. That 2 hour show could have been distilled down to about 20 minutes of actual history and discussion.

And I particularly don't like how the Vietnam Was is being re-written in their so called histories. Tactical, strategic, and out-right stupid blunders on the part of the political and military leaders of the US, should not be interpreted as military genius on the part of the North Vietnamese leadership. IMO.

                          End of rant. Sorry.

                          • 9th Company (9 Rota). Very good war movie with some brilliant central performances. Its a shame they changed the actual story so much but still a great film, some very powerful scenes.
