  • The King

    Saw a trailer for the new Netflix series the King.
    It is based on Henry V and his Agincourt campaign.
    Starts in the autumn. The armour in the trailer looks more or less realistic and the image of one armoured man to having bludgeon another hopefully indicates that the armour may not be Hollywood’s tissue paper variety.

    I hope it doesn't bode fowl as that Viking series seems to. I watched that trailer via my son's post on Facebook. The 'storming of the beach' looked absolute bollocks and straight away I stopped the trailer and carried on scrolling down the page.
    ‘Tis said his form is tiny, yet
    All human ills he can subdue,
    Or with a bauble or medal
    Can win mans heart for you;
    And many a blessing know to stew
    To make a megloamaniac bright;
    Give honour to the dainty Corse,
    The Pixie is a little shite.

      It is amusing that King Harry is played by a Frenchman...

        But King Henry V had enough French ancestors to call himself French....

          Yeah, saw that clip and it was, as you say, utterly absurd.
          Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? Who is watching the watchers?

            It t shows him getting off a boat. I don’t believe the landing was opposed.

            Armour I’m the battle scene looks realistic and Henry’s troops actually seem to be in a formation.
            Most films depict battles as just a mass rammy.

              Thanks for the heads up. I am a huge Henry V fan and will watch this no matter what. The trailer does not dampen my interest. I'll accept something similar in quality to "Outlaw/King".

                    I haven't either. I was pointed to the trailer by my son on Facebook. I have no intention to view any more of it.

                    Mind you! I happened upon the series while browsing BBCi Player, which is being shown on BBC2, which is called 'The Name of The Rose' (I remember seeing the Sean Connery film version years ago) so I thought I'd give it the first 5 minutes. The rendition of 14th-century plate armour and Mail in the battle scene was excellent so I watched the whole episode. Suffice to say that I will very much be looking forward to episode 2.

                      Problem is that it's Netflix, and I refuse to buy more services than I already pay for to see anything.
