  • 'Where Eagles Dare'....

Very sad news, the Ju52 used for some of the iconic film's greatest scenes, has crashed.

The long toll of the brave
    Is not lost in darkness
    Over the fruitful earth
    And athwart the seas
Hath passed the light of noble deeds
    Unquenchable forever.

The best movie of its type.

Apparently it went into the mountain in an almost vertical dive - no survivors. No prior collision and snagging the undercart on power likes has also been ruled out

I saw it once when it was still in service in the Swiss Air force

You mean the type where Clint Eastwood had magic sub machine guns with an inexhaustible supply of ammo, the Luftwaffe was equipping fighter squadrons with North American Harvards (which is odd as they seemingly had a time machine that allowed them to obtain 1950s Bell choppers). German radio monitoring and location was so bad that people can go on endlessly about Danny Boy with out danger of being picked up, back packable radios have incredible range and ultra light long lasting batteries

Damn, up until now I thought the movie was a documentary!

Not one of the finest, or even one of the better, war films. Full of gadgets (backpacks with an endless supply of special bombs), stereotypical characters, and an entire Jaeger regiment that couldn't find its own butts with two hands, a flashlight and a magnifying glass.

the sexy and innocent female spy
the kindly and understanding German general
            the bumbling professorial Allied General
            the thick-lipped, leering SS type
            the know-everything British agent
            the wise-cracking American agent
            the dastardly, traitorous British subordinates

Best part of the entire film was the Ju52 Tante Anna, now destroyed in a recent crash.
