Kind of run-of-the-mill, based apparently on the DiCaprio film Inception and the earlier Quaid film Dreamscape,, this sci-fi series is based on a new immersive video game that is so addicting that some users refuse to exit the game and remain in a comatose state, living entirely in their digital world where they reign supreme. The protagonist works at entering their digital world and trying to talk them into coming out into the real world again. So far, nothing surprising or particularly insightful, but it is entertaining as she naturally has demons of her own she wishes to escape.

Sword Art Online, an anime did it first. This is simply a variant.

Sword art? No swords or anime in this. You might try watching it.

SAO is about a virtual online game the players are immersed in via a headset called "Nerve gear." The player is unconscious in the real world while in the game. The designer of the game pulls a fast one on the first day the game goes live and makes it impossible to log out so the players have to stay in the game essentially forever. The only ways out are if you die in the game, you die in real life, or you finish the entire game and beat the final boss monster.

What this offers is a variant of that.

OK, got it. there was another film about an online game in which the players would die of they failed to win each level, both in the game and in reality. Can't remember the title - it was a dark and depressing film. I also remember the film with DiNorfrio in which the psychologist had to enter his nightmare dream world in order to stop him, and, of course, Dreamscape, the film that started it all in America.

By those standards, then this show is a disappointment.
