  • What's your favorite movie sword duel?

I vote for M.D. Meridius vs. Tigris of Gaul!

d'Artagnan vs Athos, Porthos, Aramus and just about everybody else. A fine example of the Oliver Reed School of fencing.

All questions are valid, all answers are tentative.

Anything with Basil Rathbone as an opponent. That guy could fence!

For me, the old Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, the big fight scene between Errol and Basil Rathbone is the best.

Aww man, I was thinking of nearly all of those. In college, our fencing team would watch great dueling movies.

To throw in some foreign movies - Chushingura (the story of the 47 Ronin) where the ronin storm Lord Kira's mansion. Fuurin Kazan (the story of general Yamamoto Kansuke in the 1500's) where general Itagaki, played by Sonny Chiba, fights off enemy spearmen, but dies gloriously.

The duel on horseback as a compliment to the cavalry was my favorite.

The Duel of the Fates - Star Wars, Episode I. Yes, I know it's Episode I, but the three-way lightsaber duel is brill'.

                            Rob Roy.

I got to audition for a Might and Magic game trailer a few years back. They couldn't find a local actor who could hold a sword believably so they scouted the fencing clubs. I wonder who got it? I could been famous!

I always thought the sword fighting scenes from the 70's version of the Three and Four Muskateers were brilliant.

But I also liked the Hector and Achilles scene from Troy.
