    Rambo Poll

I just finished the Ultimate Edition First Blood, with MetaFunctions. It was nice to be able to watch the movie, and have access to the personnel records and such from the novel, added to the movie. For example, Rambo had two Medals of Honor, and the Sheriff who harassed him was passed over on the MOH in the Korean War. This DVD is the best "Extra" based purchase I have made. My thought is reflecting on Colonel Troutman, who was brought in to take John Rambo down. He sad he wouldn't know if he would kill Rambo until he looked into his eyes. If you saw the film, what would you do to Rambo....

Yeah, I drank too much Cognac, and posted twice, once without the poll. F-Ya'll, if you hate on me, sorry....

The 1st one was ok but still a Sylvester Stallone movie and it went down hill from there.

#1 had a good message, was made when it was rough to be a Vietnam vet (I suspect it might still be rough to be a Vietnam vet). I don't automatically hate Stalone movies, he's not all bad eh.

But 2 was pure garbage, and some how, he managed to make 3 even worse.

Now he's doing 4, and it looks like he didn't realize that 2 and 3 were the wretched refuse they were.

Surely the man has other ways to pay his bills.

So the Sheriff was passed over eh. Never knew that. But he was a dickhead in the film.

That is news to me as well.

I read the book "First Blood" IIRC and surprisingly the film followed real close. Better than most.

The Sheriff was at least that.

I am not a fan of Stallone or his Rambo series.

                        Reason why.

Just after the release of Rambo (1), a Vietnam Veterans of America post in the Hudson Valley of New York State sent him a request for a donation so they could provide for disabled vets at Castle Point Veterans Hospital.

He sent them back an autographed photo. Nothing else.

I guess he figures it's OK to make money off Vets, but not give even a little back.

                          Loved them

First Blood was great, Rambo First Blood II was one of the highest grossing films of the time frame. Rambo II was the one that changed culture in America, Rambo toys, games, lunchboxes etc! Even Ronald Reagan was a big fan of it.
I have told this story before.
I wanted Rambo II in the theater with my dad and some of his friends. the theater was filled with men my dads age and Vietnam Veterans as well.
When Trautman asks Rambo to take on the mission and Rambo asks "Sir do we get to win this time?" and Trautman answers" This time it is up to you" the place went nuts.
That statement hit home with a lot of Veterans, including my dad and did not have to go overseas.

Rambo III was entertaining but that is it.

                          Rambo IV looks good.

Will now that is a defining factor, looking at his film resume he sure must know what a bad film was.

I didn't mean it that way, it was just a huge hit and pop culture exploded. Plus I believe Ronnie mentioned it a few times during speeches etc!
I was only 13 when it came out.
