I didn't see my choice mentioned, though I may have missed it.

    Breaker Morant

Sure, it doesn't feature large battle scenes (just some small patrol actions) but it still ranks at or near the top of my favorites. I've read varying reports on its accuracy, but the story of 3 Austrailian soldiers on trial by courts martial during the Boer War never fails to hold my attention.

I also love the 1989 release of Henry V. Even though Henry wouldn't have been running around at Agincourt without plate armor.

Others on my list of faves have been mentioned already:

All Quiet on the Western Front (original)
    Zulu
    Last of the Mohicans
    Band of Brothers
Vivos voco Mortuos plango Fulgura frango

I call the living, I mourn the dead, I chase the lightning.
