  • Discovery Best Tank Ever aired Mar 4 2006 here

Watched a Discovery program last night (saw last 80%), it was nice.

Thought I had already seen the show, but then realised there was different scenes.

Number 2 tank was yet again the US Abrams (not number 1).

Previous number 1 slot choice changed this show though.
This show they picked the Leopard in it's current edition for Number 1.
I think if I recall, Abrams lost points on appetite for fuel category.
Life is change. Built models for decades.
Not sure anyone here actually knows the real me.
    I didn't for a long time either.

    Curious minds want to know

    How did the L3/33 do?

How is the Leopard IIs fuel consumption?

Is this the same Best Tank show that has aired on the Military Channel? There is a thread out there in the Weapons of War area. if I remember correctly it was something like this.
      #3 Tiger
      #2 Abrams
      #1 T-34/85

      Does that sound familiar?

Think you refer to the one I was trying to recall. Yes T-34 scored number 1 in that show.
This suggests differing view point, but same channel/show having aired the program in my case.

First show I watched had a very nice mix of opinion as it included a lot of tanks back to the WW1 appearance. Rationale was tank had to have had a significant impact on the battlefield of its time.

Leopard if I recall the show (it was 2 in the morning hehe).

Think it scored well for having a less complex engine, more of an "off the shelf" nature as it is basically just a large commercial powerplant.

Tank was noteworthy in that a total newb can apparently drive a Leopard around (current Leopard). Lots of footage of the ones the Swedes use.
