  • Robocop(1987)

The original Robocop was way ahead of its time. It was a brilliant film it saw the future of the USA.

Themes that make up the basis of RoboCop include media influence, gentrification, corruption, authoritarianism, greed, privatization, capitalism, identity, dystopia, and human nature. It received positive reviews and was cited as one of the best films of 1987, spawning a franchise that included merchandise, two sequels, a television series, a remake, two animated TV series, a television mini-series, video games, and a number of comic book adaptations/crossovers. The film was produced for a relatively modest $13 million.[2] Honors for the film include five Saturn Awards, two BAFTA Award nominations and the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing, along with nominations for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

I wonder why Peter Weller didn't come back for the third one?

^ Probably because the script sucked. Weller ultimately went on to teach ancient history at Syracuse University. He can be seen on occasion offering expert opinion on outlets like the History Channel.

For the same reason Roy Scheider didn't come back for "Jaws 3." He knew it was gonna be a stinker. The only reason he came back for "Jaws 2" was because it was in his contract for the original "Jaws."

I remember seeing this movie for the first time on VHS tape, at the age 8 or 9, can't remember exactly. I wonder what the PG-rating of the movie was.

I still remember I found this scene to be the most stomach-turning of all:

Still, despite that, I was more scared watching Aliens around the same age, than I was watching RoboCop.

He should have made a cameo in the 2014 version of Robocop of which had a beautiful opening scene. The following highly inspiring scene is a kickback to the theme of the original robocop and in general pays homage to all the great films in history. The new Robo cop film shows us a brave American police officer but also shows very brave and herioc non Americans. The Theme of the Robocop films generally shows the corruption of the government and the corrupt greedy CEOs who contribute to world poverty...while otoh brave civilians and good police officers stand up for what is right.

My favorite scene from the original Robocop. If you have not seen the original Robocop and do not want to be spoiled, the best bet might be to avoid watching this.

Robocop 2 may not have lived up to the original Robocop. That said the first sequel has its moments,

the style of robocop is similar to the 1984 magazine/Judge Dread
