The Great Silence was the first anti-hero film I ever watched.

The bad guys, led by Klaus Klinski won.

Apparently, it had to be re shot for the US audiences for the good guy to win.

Americans tend toward optimism rather than Europeanesque fatalism.

We just make the bad guy into the good guy. The Outlaw Joseye Wales is one example.

This post is about Western films, not a cross-dressing Brit.

He's discussing (in a light-hearted manner) the difference between European and American films which had already been brought up on the thread by Tuebor.

Americans tend toward optimism rather than Europeanesque fatalism.

... and I was responding to that.

I've also posted two examples of great Western movies - so my contributions to the thread have been perfectly valid in all respects!

Indeed, forgot about that one, seems we have a comparable taste in Westerns

Butch Cassidy and the SD Kid is one of my favourite movies but it doesn't fit my criteria for a "true" Western,

likewise, the Spaghetti Western imho is a category of its own.
                                Lambert of Montaigu - Crusader.

                                Bolgios - Mercenary Game.
