  • Star Trek Beyond

Pax and I broke out our new DVD and watched this last night. Very disappointing - it seem to be a compilation of things from other films: sound effects from Star Wars, scenery from Avatar and a film totally dedicated to special effects to the detriment of the film.

At least they aren't trying to blind us with lense-flares anymore.

I saw it on disk too, and I wasn't so disappointed until they defeated the enemy with music.
Sigh... we need a new genre.

Star Trek will soon be collecting Social Security.

The movie was just Fast and Furious in Space. Which makes sense as if I recall prior to ST: Beyond the director had done some of those formula films. The plot had the feel of having been made up as they went along, leading to an ultimate reveal which was, at best, amateurish. I could rip this thing apart, but whats the point.

Agreed. Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

Yeah...bad rap music, which they called "classic".

Don't need a new genre...need to replace the producer and director with people who actually understand the Star Trek philosophy and mindset.

A fair score. It's an okay pop corn movie, but lacked Trekyness imho.

                As for the music

Well, considering Star Trek wasn't that good in the first place, Beyond isn't all that bad.

Will the producers be recasting they role of Chekov given Anton Yelchin's death?
