  • Movie Goofups

I have been collecting a list of movie goofups. Please add to the list if you have any more:

    1. Braveheart - In the Battle of Stirling sequence when the infantry charge commences watch the cutscenes closely. In one shot Mel Gibson shoulders his war hammer, in the next shot he takes his sword out. Very briefly in the next cut with Mel Gibson you will see him running with his sword shouldered again. The next cut it will be back in his hand.

    2. Ran - In the castle assault sequence pay close attention to the musketeers fighting their way up the stairwell. In one shot a musketeer gets a little too enthusiastic with his shouldering technique and knocks the man in front of him on the head.

    3. Hostage - There is more than one scene in which the plane exterior is night yet when they cut to the inside of the plane, daylight is streaming through the windows.

    4. Star Wars - In the scene where R2 and 3PO have locked themselves in a closet on the Death Star, watch to the right when the stormtroopers barge into the room. One of them is a little too tall and bumps his head.

    5. Midway - Ensign George Gay is flying a dive bomber but when he gets shot down they show footage of an F6F ditching in the water.
A new life awaits you in the off world colonies; the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure!

Star Wars, when Darth Vader in the meeting tells Tarkin "I told you she would never betray the rebellion" the actor appears to continue talking after the voice over. Surprising that it has never been corrected.
Duchess of Richmond: They're the salt of England.
Duke of Wellington: Scum. Nothing but gutter trash and scum. Gin is the spirit of their patriotism.

LOTR the two towers: In the scene where Gandalf calls his horse, Shadowfax he is clearly wearing Nike sneakers.

Robocop (the first movie). When the guy gets blown away by the ED-209 robot in the office near the beginning of the film you can clearly see the bloodbags under his jacket.

In LOTR, Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf bangs his head on a beam inside Bilbo's house, this wasnt in the script and it wasn't faked, but Ian McKellen carried on playing so they kept it in the final cut. Now that's what I call acting

In the Hunt For Red October the F-14 Tomcat that crash lands on the carrier deck is a Korean War vintage F-9F or F-2H (similar appearance to one another, but not to an F-14).

In Zulu many of the tribesman can be seen wearing the gold wrist watches they were given as payment for the movie.

Another Zulu one, in one particular scene if I remember it correctly, there is a very bright lens flare off something on a hill. No one involved in the movie could ever figure out what caused it.

P.S. Just check out www.imdb.com for a movie and look at the goofs, the lists can be quite huge.

In Star Wars, after Vader kills Ben Kanobi and turns to walk out the blast door, his light sabre is white plastic.

In Glory, when Shaw gets killed at Ft. Wagner, Matt Brodericks "squid" cable is CLEARLY visible.

In Gettysburg, during one scene the contrail of a jet can be seen in the sky.

In Raiders Of The Lost Ark, when Indy falls down in front of the Cobra in the Well Of The Souls, you can see his reflection in the plexi glass that separates the snake from him.

In the film 48 Hours , the bad guys, on WAY too many occasions, fire 8 to 10 shots from their 6 shot .44 magnums.

                            The Green Berets:

When the Duke's Huey is shot down...the burning Helo IS plastic...the life size mock-up that hits the ground clearly has ropes attached to it.

The M-16 he smashes against a tree as he says "well he took 'em all with him...or they wouldn't have left THIS"...is a plastic toy and not a plastic M-16.

At the end of the movie, the Duke and the little kid walk off into the sunset...on a beach...in Vietnam...rules out Da Nang and Cam Ranh Bay...

In the interest of full disclosure...I still love this movie, flaws and all.
