Wasn't there a book or something about a US submarine that was left alone after Cold War blows up and most of the northern hemisphere is destroyed? They could adapt it or something.
On The Beach, by Nevil Shute, film with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner. A classic.

Most of the new shows look awful. I did like XIII on Reelz. I don't know if they will renew it. I'm picky in what I watch. Hopefully, It won't be long til Justified comes back. If I can't see The Walking Dead on this screen, I'll yell more at DISH.

Does anyone remember a television show made in the '80s (I think) based on the book Carrier? The show was about life aboard the USS George Washington, the same as the book. However they couldn't help but liberalizing the story to the edge of absurdity. I remember they had one jet fighter crewed by two females who were the hottest pilots around. At the most it lasted one season.

There was another show based around the naval aviation at Miramar. It starred Dennis Weaver as the Admiral in command of the base. Another one season wonder

For some reason Hollywood can't create a good drama using the Navy as the backdrop.

        Cheers,
        Dan.

Its pilot was watched by only 9,000 and it is listed as on wobbly legs after only one episode. I say good riddance to it.

No big surprise. Hollywood is populated overwhelmingly by left wing liberals that think the military is only there for social engineering and PC crap.

Well that plus the real US military is riddled with checklists, rules, supervisors and technical specialists who exist to prevent the sort of things that make for entertaining TV from happening in the first place.

Yes but that is just a cop show that happens to be set in the military.

I have to agree. Other than the corpses there's really nothing tying the show to the Navy. And the NCIS is really a civilian organization.

Watched the first two episodes. Can't figure out what's going on or what's supposed to be going on.

Appears the COB knows what the hell is happening but they got him locked in a cage.

                        Then the Spetsnaz attacks...

                        Huh?

                        Can't wait until next Thursday.
