  • Dumbest War Movie Scene Ever

I don't know the title of the film but aging Kojak is in it.

The train wipes out probably 60 Germans by doing nothing at all, just rolling down the tracks at 10 mph. The train doesn't even fire back.

I'm guessing it was one of the Dirty Dozen spin offs that Savalas did.

Jeez Mark, you didn't like that one?

I always thought it cool that Savalas had a helmet smaller than his head...

Behind Enemy Lines - Landmine scene

Did you know that you can avoid fragments just by running really fast?
Maybe throw in a hip fake just to be on the safe side.

I always thought the end of Rambo III where a tank faces off a helicopter was very silly.

The first video is simply from an alternate reality where everything is made of nitroglycerin and TNT and Germans have a deadly allergy to air.

But that still doesn't explain them choosing b):

                  a) Sabotage the tracks and wait from a good position for the train to stop.
                  b) Send in the entire army to stand in the tracks and shoot everything, from pistols to mortars, at a train the enemies already left by visibly jumping into open terrain while leaving the German hostages inside.

Why didn't they just put some livestock on the rail line?

If the German troops unscrewed the bolts and removed the tracks the train would have simply derailed and rolled off the escarpment.

However, those are Hollywood Germans who are not supposed to do any critical thinking, unless explicitly ordered by the Fuhrer.

                        This (06:16):

Downed helo somehow hovering on water and than Rambo fires a LAW (that those of you with a sharp eye would notice turns to an RPG for a split second!) like there's no back blast in the world...

Because by that year of the war, the Germans had eaten all of the local livestock.

Dumbest scenes in war movies - fireball explosions caused by non-flammable things blowing up.

The latest candidate for this is Red Tails, in which a strafed locomotive explodes in a tremendous fireball. In fact, this never happens; instead, the locomotive boiler explodes in a cloud of steam and smoke.

Artillery rounds lading on the ground do not explode into huge fireballs, either - they just throw huge amounts of the local landscape into the air.

If we had the time, we could then get into the issue of firearms that do not perform according to the laws of actual firearm performance, such as those which do not need reloading, those of small caliber which suddenly penetrate very dense structures, those of large caliber which do not penetrate soft targets, and the infamous .50 cal MG which only makes small holes in trucks, jeeps and buildings, when in reality, a Ma Deuce will obliterate soft-skin targets and the average dwelling, and a soldier hit by a fifty will not be lying there making lengthy speeches to his buddies - he will bleed out rapidly from the gigantic exit wound.

As far as I am concerned, any film that relies of that level of unrealism is a prime candidate for Dumbest War Scene, including a couple of scenes from Saving Private Ryan starting with the beach scene in which the sniper fires a single round at a German sandbagged MG position and the entire position explodes from the impact of a single .303 Springfiled round.

                            Here's their sign...
