    DON'T. MESS. WITH. THEM. EVER!
    Indeed.

The lost 13th tribe of the Ewoks became the Zulus.

Is that why the Redcoats called them "fuzzies"?

A new life awaits you in the off world colonies; the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure!

Stormtroopers don't hit any of the main characters because no villains ever hit the main characters. If you look at their battles with Rebel forces in the movies, though, they typically kill quite a few of them if no heroes are around.

I believe they have an entire backstory of the decline of clone armies and their potency in the Star Wars universe in the game "Battlefront II."

I'll try to find the video.

FYI, there's a poll somewhere with the question who would win if a Star Wars stormtrooper fought a Star Trek redshirt.

Stormtrooper, He would shoot high and knock something off and kill the redshirt.

The red shirt will kill the storm trooper with his pistol, then when he's in the Enterprise flying away, the ship will be attacked by a cloaked Imperial star destroyer, and he'll be knocked around until he hit an instrument panel and die, because due to budget cutbacks, Star Fleet still hasn't fitted seat belts to their warships.

                Storm Trooper Armor

It does exactly what it was designed to do - make budget.

Put the stunt men in those suits and you can kill the same guys as many times as you like in the same film. And the next one, and the next one, and
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.

I have just noticed the image of the Imperial Space Marine taking a moment to meditate on a Stormtrooper helmet and it is an amazing image.

Somebody asked how the Empire survived given it's obsession with elite forces who don't notice doorways and are custom designed not to be able to fight effectively. This goes hand in hand with their obsession with ridiculously over-sized weapon systems with stupid weaknesses. The Death Star and AT-ATs have already been mentioned but the only fight you ever see an Imperial Star Destroyer win in three films, is against Leia's blockade runner. The Rebels vessels can beat them at will. The rule of cool does appear to apply alongside the rule of intimidation. It is fine as long as people are too scared to fight back.

"Very good but brick not hit back" indeed.

This is what happens when bureaucracy triumphs over common-sense.

It's the product of the military-industrial complex. The average stormtrooper probably knows how screwed-up their equipment is. The crew manning all those ridiculously over-sized weapon systems with readily apparent flaws probably knew how stupid the design was.

But it's the arms industry that pushes such design, promising that they are invincible weapon systems. Due to the close relationship the corporate CEOs have with the Emperor, the Imperial Fleet and Imperial Army had no choice but to swallow the lemons.

They must've took genetic samples from the wrong part of the bounty hunter. Instead of the perfect marksmen gene they got the bad eyesight, Parkinson's, bad depth perception gene out of him and by the time they figured out that Stormtroopers had terrible accuracy, the bounty hunter was long dead and hundreds of thousands of clones had already been 'grown'.

I think another reason why they have such bad marksmanship is the stupid helmet they have to wear which restricts their vision of targets. But it would look rather funny if they didn't have helmets on, it would be like fighting one guy that is reborn thousands of times again that you have to kill again.

My retired Air Force intelligence uncle also points out that star-ship battles would never get nearer the farthest range of their biggest lasers/cannons. It would be suicide for both sides to have you star-ship fleets literally drive right by each other as that would cause all kinds of navigation and collision issues which would be just as bad as getting nailed by a massive photon beam from miles away. He said they would line up so that each could fire their lasers from a good distance to each other, while their fighters engaged somewhere above or below this exchange of light waves. It would be a matter of who has the most ray guns/photon cannons and the best force-shields and armor to outlast the other. Since Darth Vader was the most powerful Dark Lord he could have used his powers to lesson enemy beams or to strengthen his beams.

How star-ship battles happen in Star Wars is like what happened in 16th century ship of the line battles, whereas it should've happened like modern guided missile cruiser battles of today. Each would be beyond visual distance and would be launch massive particle beams at each other hoping they land and cause damage.
