I also enjoyed the War Stories series by Garth Ennis (published by Vertigo)

Taylor to Santa Anna: "Tell him to go to hell."
As translated by Major Bliss: "In reply to your note of this date, summoning me to surrender my forces at discretion, I beg leave to say that I decline acceding to your request."

Nice choices. If you are interested in Vietnam I recommend Jason's Aaron's comic the Other Side (his main title Scalped is also quite good).

Do graphic novels count? 'Age of Bronze,' about the Trojan War, was excellent. I believe it was done in comic book form before collected into the graphic novel format.

              I have that in TPB.

There was also "Sempre Fi" from Marvel as well. It focused on the Marine Corps and skipped all over the place.

Have you read the recent stuff featuring SGT Rock? Good stuff.

I highly recommend "The Lost Battalion"

It is based on the 442nd Combat Regiment and the 1st Battalion 141st Infantry during World War II. Excellent story and amazing art.
