‘You never forget the horror of it’

Alistair Urquhart survived Japanese labour camps and being torpedoed by Americans to end up 10 miles from an atomic bomb...

This is the first time that Urquhart, a Japanese prisoner of war, has told the full story of constructing the “Death Railway” between Thailand and Burma, building the bridge over the River Kwai, and witnessing the aftermath of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.

I wasn't aware of Urquhart being a Scottish name, sounds very Pictish.
