Why would Stalin want to be called the same name as one of the 20th century's easiest to hate blight's on humanity..... is the question on my mind.

Stalin had so many faults, so many aspects without redeeming value, that he can even make Hitler look not so bad.

So again, why does Stalin want to use the name Stalin?

Or is someone already using Attila and I am just unaware of it?

Hmm, fan of a mass murdering dictator eh.

You DO realize that comes across as making you look like it does eh.

Let's see, other people unwise to be a fan of, Mussolini, Hitler, Quisling, Goebels, Tojo, Himmler. Not that I require you to admire western personalities that supposedly were "good guys".

But, if you must admire significant Russian(s) from history, you could at least pick one without so much blood on his hands eh. How about the first man in space?

You mean not yet proven. Stalin. Hmm. Imagine what he'd do in a world without the Third Reich or other Tot regimes... I can just see him whiling away endless hours at a Dacha in Odessa in Summer say overlooking the Black Sea...

as for Tolstoy, he was the only author who ever wrote about liberty.

Try reading Hohol. And after you're done with the novels, try reading up on Vyatka and Novgorod.

For a long time I felt the same way about the Irish. Between the Daly's and the Kennedy's I can't think of any two families who did more to abuse Western concepts of liberty to further their own nefarious ends.

Are you- his fingers hesitate trembling over the keyboard at the momentousness of what he is about to type- suggesting there is an alternative to eternal damnation for the Russian soul (forget body)? And who are you?
I certainly see no need to couch the issue in such moral and/or religious overtones. I look at it like this: the late USSR/Russian Empire is a large and wealthy place. There is no reason why the bulk of the people can't live peaceably and profitably together, if not in total harmony, then at least in . . . . benign communal accomodation and mutual respect for each others' individual rights. If they just left each other the hell alone they'd certainly be living better. Guys like our own little Stalin here represent the worst in the Russian character: the insatiable need to stick their fingers in their neighbors' noses, a trait which the real Stalin used to tremendous effect -- hence the elevation of a "little swine" like Pavlik Morozov to socialist saint. That's what Stalin fans really miss: official encouagement to make a pain in the ass of themselves to their neighbors.

Some people are simply sooooooo poorly educated I guess, that they can believe nearly any swill they are taught. Either that, or just crazy, maybe a mix of both.

Not sure where your enthusiasm for him comes from though.

Hey, did you hear, the world is round, goes around the sun and isn't the center of the universe? Just checking to see exactly what it is you do believe. You seem able to believe the darndest things.

Saviour of Russia, god that's funny. I think you dishonour all the millions of dead Russians that died booting out Hitler's war machine. I think you steal the rightful credit owed by the few military men that Stalin didn't find ways to get rid of that outfought Hitler's war machine. It sure as hell wasn't Stalin.

Well that is, Stalin didn't fight them all single handed right? I mean, to use your own incredibly limited thinking defense of the man, if he didn't personally kill all those he is known to be responsible for, then it can't be blamed on him. So, why are you so anxious to give him credit for single handedly saving Russia? It's bad enough the dumbass was stupid enough to pretend he could actually make deals with Hitler before 1941.

So all those people who walked into the gulag and never left were what abducted by aliens while fake corpses were buried in mass graves to cover the conspiracy? All of the survivors who spoke of rape, torture, and murder were all crazy, along with the guards who concurred on these events. The survivors with burn marks, scarring and paralysis got those injuries as a result of what, kung fu wielding cockroaches?
