  • Ancient western strategic texts

Can anyone recommend any strategic texts from the ancient west, perhaps Roman, Byzantine, Greek? I'm aware of Vegetius but is there anything else worthy of going and getting before too long?

Have you seen "Maurice's Strategikon: Handbook of Byzantine Military Strategy" translated by George T. Dennis. The piece is a first complete English translation of the veteran campaigner, Emperor Maurice's (A.D. 582-602) handbook for field commanders.

I have not; thank you, R.N> Armstrong, I shall keep a look out for that!
