The book Violence of Action contains personal accounts from Rangers who served in the 75th Ranger Regiment from 2001-2011.

The 75th Ranger Regiment truly evolved during the GWOT into what might be the most capable special operations light infantry force in the world. The days of the regiment simply being a force for seizing airfields or a security force for Tier 1 units is long gone. Those missions are still done but there was a time when that type of operation seemed to define the 75th Ranger Regiment. Not any longer.

One of the things I was surprised by is how many combat parachute jumps elements of the regiment have been made in the GWOT. We've heard about the larger jumps such as Operation Rhino at Kandahar, but there have been a lot of company and platoon sized static line jumps that have not gotten any press, plus quite a few free fall jumps by the Regimental Reconnaissance Company.
