I've enjoyed it so far. To be honest, the pausable real-time mode is actually (gasps of horror) better than the old turn-based mode because it makes certain situations a lot more difficult (i.e. a bit more realistic) to deal with.

Take for instance the case of having one or two AI soldiers holed up inside ab building. To attack them in turn-based one could simply pop around the corner, fire, then walk back without any danger of being damaged in retaliation. Sure, its not perfect, but it makes lots of sense and works well in the game.

However, the game misses out on a lot of the old content, like not allowing you to create your own Mercenaries, lots of game content and role playing elements, etc.

Personally, this plays more like a test-bed to see if all the new ideas work well together. I would be more excited now about a Jagged Alliance 3... as long as they actually flesh it out.

The good point: the game had already been patched a few times:

              I. LOVE. JAGGED. ALLIANCE

I had all the versions for PC, and even one for the DS ( eh. )
but just something about it...I loved it. Im a total loot *****. Plus being able to choose your mercs, customizing your team and upgrading certain skills really appealed to me.

Haven't played this yet, but I will asap.

Totally. I was a huge fan of the originals. Hopefully they don't stuff this one with in-game purchases - but other than that, looking forward to playing it
