Anyone know if theres a site that list all the computer wargames that have been released since the begining of the hobby in the early 80s? or an history of such type of games? I would love to have a comprehensive index of them all

Grognard.com has a pretty good listing of wargames, many of which are computer wargames. I am not sure whether it is totally comprehensive on the PC side though.

      Siberian HEAT,
Thank you for reminding us of this excellent site.
      I forgot all about it.
I lost it during one of my computer crashes a few years ago.

If it's not on Grognard, chances are no one considers it a wargame as well, and no loss

        I didn't for a long time either.

what great sites especially for those (like me) who don't know much beyond the games they played at Uni - the unknown unknowns to coin a phrase.
                        Thanks for posting them

Hmmm. Most links are dead - I wonder if there is anything newer that can be found. I'll see what I come up with while poking around and add a link or two here if I turn up anything good.

Considering this thread was started eleven years ago, it isn't surprising most (if not all!) the links in it are dead. I don't know where to find sites comparable to those that were originally linked to, but here are a few links that might help you find some games that you are looking for:

                            Matrix / Slitherine
                            Paradox

If you don't like DRM or prefer games that have been around for awhile, try GOG.com.

To check on all games and whether they are worth their price, Steam has most of them.

To watch how a game plays, watch a video of it at YouTube (I usually put *Name of Game* PC review in the search box)

That should get you started. Good luck in your search.

                              Grognard is still up. http://grognard.com/

It seems to be very extensive in relation to wargames.
