  • Company of Heroes AAR

I'm defending Carentan City-Hall and Church. I've set up minefields, barbed wire, machine-gun nests. Snipers in buildings, along with machine-guns (HMG) and platoons of riflemen. Mortars are in the city-square, along with 2 AT guns.

I've got 10 minutes to prepare, and I did the above so.
First waves of German infantry are
    1. Mortared
    2. Sniped
    3. MG
    4. Rifled
In that order. The bloodshed is terrible as twenty German soldiers are mowed down. Then the Stugs arrive. They smash through the barbed wire, but are hit by the mines. The first are smart and they destroy the garrisoned houses (and my snipers )

The Stugs are at points disabled by mortar rounds or hit by the AT guns. Then the half-tracks drive in. They open up with MG, kill the AT crews. Lucky for me, my airborne soldiers are tough. The Nazi troops fall back, then drop howitzer shells on the town-hall. Blows the place apart. My men are ordered to defend the church. They fall back, but the Nazi troops move in faster and my airborne units fight directly before the church doors.

Then the armored forces arrive. The Sherman tanks hit the Stug tanks in the rear, and break apart the Nazi advance. They quickly retreat.

If the Allies have 105's they'll destroy you're 10 mins of work in about 30 sec...

Another good one, eventhough I am not a real big fan of Lord of the Rings, is Battle for Middle Earth

The 105 howizters were amazing in-game.

            Playing a skirmish scenario.

Hedgerows cut across the entire map. In the center is a capture point. The team that controls it wins the game (after their points reach 0).
Skirmish starts off with platoon rush to the control point. MGs set themselves up, and the Germans drive in with three Stug tanks.
Then I got a 105 howizter upgrades. Well, several minutes later, the hedgerows and lanes were transformed into a craterous muddy surface covered by armored hulks of Stug and the body parts of Volksgrenadiers.

I was thinking about buying this game when the priced lowered a bit.

It seems like it is highly recommended

I don't like RTS but this one is a bit different. If you plan on hunkering down in your base, building up an army of one kind of unit, and then base rushing you are going to lose. The Allied and German sides are vastly different and require different tactics and strategy to be successful. This is no C&C.
