Anyone else here playing? I have my opinions but I'll keep them quiet until someone else says something so you all don't think I hate EVERY game that isn't made by paradox

After playing the beta, I saw no reason to pay $50 for a BF2 mod.

I've never been much into playing bf games online, and I know I'm a minority here but to me it's always been a lan game. First thing with bf2142, it totally screws over the lan gamer. You have to unlock EVERYTHING. I also think the game has ridiculous balance issues. I modified some files to change the unlocks and some of the classes and me and my friends have been lanning using these (Just really unlocks the smaller kit stuff we didn't want to play online for 100 hours just to get the same gear a bot gets, and I changed some class gear around to make it more fun -- the recon now gets the at's smg instead of a pistol, and the at now gets the support's shotgun instead of the smg). Eventually I plan on unlocking the rest of the maps, up to 64 bots in coop, and rebalancing the vehicles (I personally think they're all to weak/fast). I DO think they should have released it at a reduced price, because it is just a fancy mod.

Been playing this since yesterday, spent a few hours online, I think it's really cool, although yes, it's just the same as BF2, just with some big stompy robots. But it's still good fun to play - although a little buggy, I just got lost a server connection for no apparent reason and the game crashed on me shortly after.

It's great fun to get control of one of the Mechs - either as driver or gunner, the weapons mounted on them are so cool.

Sprint time is drastically reduced with the heavy armour though, and I never live long anyway once someone is shooting at me, so I ditch the armour to give myself more running time.

However killing other people takes an age, I pumped a whole magazine into one guy and he only just went down - he must have had his armour on, I think the hand weapons should be more powerful.

Haven't played the Titan mode yet - might try that this evening.

Plus, if you wait for a few months you might actually get a 1.0 product (as opposed to the beta they release).

Well I got the sprinting issue solved - it's all gone upgrade-mental here. I've settled into the niche of support gunner, and I now have a personal shield I can deploy, and some stuff to allow me to spring faster and for longer, as well as some fragementation grenades, so it's back on with the heavy armour and on with the fighting.

Wow, just had a really long, but interesting game.

Quite a small server, and not full by any means. The game twisted and turned for about half an hour, we kept taking outposts, the enemy would take them back. We eventually whittled them down to two, but the teamwork was shocking - i.e. there was none, at least not as far as I was concerned.

So I found myself driving a buggy thingy, on my own, into one enemy compound where I jumped out and seized control of an EMP cannon which took out an enemy Mech and a hover-tank. I raced to the flag and stood there while it changed, then hunkered down to wait for the inevitable counter-attack, all the while requesting assistance which never came.

Lo and behold, a few moments later, a buggy slams into the flagpole and out jumps this guy, who I promptly killed. Woo-hoo, more points for me for saving the flag... A few seconds later, with me still loitering waiting for the thing to re-hoist itself, another buggy - but this guy didn't even have a chance to get out, I shot him in the face as he sat in the car.

Getting low on ammo' now, so I resupplied myself (handy that) and hid around the corner again.

This time, an enemy Mech is dispatched to deal with me. I stare up at it as it stands by the flag, its engine purring away, motors whirring as it turns, the smell of diesel filling my nostrils (well, not really, but you know...) scanning the terrain ominously, looking for me, but the driver must be blind, and he's lacking a gunner, he can't see me. So I sneaked back to the EMP cannon and blew it away. Just in time, the flag is saved again.

All the while, enemy points are ticking down...and down...after a nerve-wracking few minutes, still with no support, we win the game.

And I got third place in the ranking - to go with the first place I got earlier this evening. I actually have a few medals now!

                      Interesting offer!

I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms at the moment - haven't played for a few days, I'm now Sergeant Major of the Army and on my way to Petty Officer.

I just stick with COD2 and Mech Warrior Mecrenaries 4. These two games I can just sit down play for a while and walk away. I do not have to worry about the most kills or uping and level or unlocking another goodie.

I got and played BF2 and it seems like to me like Halo. Who ever gets to the good stuff first wins and you have the spawn killers. Just watch that video on the other link and you would what I am talking about.

The spawn killers got me to stop playing Halo and BF2.
                        Are we there yet?
