  • Awesome Gaming laptop

I'm not normally one to pimp stuff, but I just had to tell you guys about an awesome deal. Check out this laptop:

It first came out at the end of last month at $1249 at Best Buy & then jumped to $1699.......this Sunday the thing goes on sale for $1199 at Best Buy. I went ahead & bought one & put it on the Best Buy card (18 months same as cash) & they are going to price match it Sunday so that I save the $500. With the Nvidia 8800GTS card & 3gigs of RAM, it simply doesn't have a peer on 3D benchmarks untill you are willing to spend close to $3000 (that I have seen so far). I am in the process of installing games & such & will tell you how it performs, but I just couldn't let this deal pass you guys by w/o posting it out there for you.

Update! Here is the link to the Sunday paper:

They have added the fact that you get a free game. The PC that you can get off the front page with the 22" monitor is also sweet, but the only problem with it is that it has a 400 watt power supply....if you change that you would have an awesome rig!

Pretty good rig except the processor is the weakest part... Though a 1.6 dual isn't too bad, mine has a Turion 1.65 dual...

From my understanding on reading on the laptop message boards is that the processor is NOT soldered on the board & can be popped out & upgraded.....so it is possible to make it run faster.

That will throw off the thermal balance.

In fact it is very likely that this machine has such a slow processor in the first place because anything more in that case with a 8800 doesn't mix with the maximum performance of the cooling system.

Also note that the links you post in your initial post are out of sync.

Some refer to this machine having the GM965 chipset with it's Intel integrated graphics, some refer to it having the non-graphics PM965 chipset and a 8800GTS mobile.

Make triple sure you get the latter for the low price.
