  • Nodnicksti told the driver to open up the engine of their Betka. Very fast and decently armed Nodnicksti hoped the BT-7's agility would keep them alive. Rain had made the ground sticky, but that would also hamper those Nazi's he hoped.

When the call came to move out, only 10 of the regiments tanks were actually mechanically fit to fight. 5 of these were fortunately command vehicles with radios, although having a reduced ammo load as a result. Nodnicksti had told the tanks to pair up, one with a radio, one without, so that at least one could be directed properly, and the other could follow. This had worked fine at first with several hit and run attacks damaging an enemy truck, and probably putting a 37mm AT gun out of action. They may have even killed some of the enemy, but vision in the tank was too limited to be sure.

Then it happened. Red Sabre as Nodnicksti called his tank company had accidently attacked some real German tanks. An MG armed light tank had been pounced on, but this had turned out to be a recce afv for a medium tank company. Speeding over a rise they found themselves facing cannon armed tanks. The Soviets, firing on the move shot first, but missed. The Germans stopped. Cursing his lack of vision Nodnicksti opened the turret hatch to get a better view of the situation. Three of the Betka's were already aflame, and then he noticed an enemy' cannon pointing his way. There was a flash..........

    • Nodnicksti had found that he had been blown out of his tank by a direct hit. Waking up, he had found his three loyal friends had saved him. Ballski, Da Landski and an odd soldier merely called Iron were all that was left of his company. The 5 tanks with radios had all been destroyed first. That was shocking. The enemy were targeting those in comand first! Should they not be captured alive to face trial? The Fascist Pukes did not understand war properly. How do you fight a war properly when you kill those in charge before the men? Total anarchy?

      • ... and Lt. von Ritter's gunner claimed yet another victim. The short 50mm gun on their Mk III had proven to be more than sufficient to deal with every BT-7 and T-26 that had crossed their path so far, and this case was no different.

Still, he wished for a longer 50mm, the horror-stories of the rarely-seen KVs and T-34s had caused great concern at every level of the Panzer-waffe. Simply falling back seemed to be best tactic, the drivers of those huge beasts were so unskilled that it was only a matter of time before they wound up in a ditch.
Still, it was a vexing mystery to von Ritter and his men... why did the Slavs have such fantastic tanks, and not the soldier's of the 3rd Riech.

A handful of machine-gunners opened up on fleeing Red tankers, until Ritter barked out a furious order over the radio. They needed to save that ammo for a much more deadly enemy. Since the "limited' offensive began, far more Panzers had been lost to Red anti-tank guns than to tanks. Cleverly concealed and used in teams, they were the real menace.

Well... Ritter still have reason to feel good about his life and his Company- at least they weren't in Africa!

            • Nick the Noodle,

Yes, congrats. We know you have more pressing issues right now.

Two more great Russian soldiers added to your "army". A proud day indeed!

Travel papers are needed in Russia?

Nice open society you have there.

Well it's ironic that you should post that, given the great progress of the mighty panzer armies...

Considering we haven't done more then just straighten the lines and haven't launched an attack (unlike you) the fact that we are in Russia is most telling.

Oh yes, of course, you're not really trying! Obviously. Well let us know when you're planning to start trying again.

We haven't tried yet, so we can't try again.

But when we do try you'll know, trust me, you'll know.
