Lori tells her "While you will have eternal youth you will also have serious issues with those around you. I do, even in my own time where such drugs are known to most. Think carefully before you so casually decide to take them.
And, no, they are not physically addicitive. But, they can be mentally addictive."

Yes, Kasakabe is from a water world called Durne. The Owato Clan, her syndicate lives there on an island atoll. It is much like Fiji here only run by what you might call the Mafia.
I am from Ginshar. I am not a machine. I am a genetically enhanced human, a synthetic human. Calling me a machine or computer is a gross insult to me. Ginsharians such as myself are not Humanitii. My world seeks through genetics and artifical means to move us beyond the limits of humantii. Ginshar is also a lifeform unto itself. I am part of that lifeform. That would take more time to explain than we have here. Also, it would expose you to the possibility Ginshar would learn that you knew and they would come to erase that knowledge.
As for the gravcoupe it is capable of mach three in the lower atmosphere in this planet, six gee acceleration and in space its speed is limited to point five cee, or half the speed of light.
It can maneuver at ten to twenty gee as the intertial compensators are limited to ten gee. It is as well protected as what you call an main battle tank.
I can prove any or all of the above to you as you wish. Any flights have to occur after dark as Mister Damien does not wish us to expose him to questions about the vehicle. I would be happy to take you on a ride over the Pacific Ocean where there are no observers."

Out of my truck. By some...thing. Never heard of anything like it being in the works when I was in the black world, only evidence I had that it even existed were some marks, like claw marks, in the bed of the truck. Went about my own business and stayed under the radar like I always do before a gaggle of Feds showed up one night and Sulshanna jumped in with some well-timed distractions. Offered to hire me to protect her for a couple of days, good rate, so I did. Things kind of moved on from there."
"I wasn't expecting you to just put it all out on the table, but are you sure that's all you have for me?" He focuses on the one that he guesses Chris does not want to talk about. "What is this Kendra's last name?" He looks it up on his laptop, and then grins.
"Well, I'll be damned, the Rodeo? these picures don't do her justice, but I don't suppose they were meant to show a softer side." He spins the laptop display around.

North Korea... well, I'm hoping you pass all of this one to your women so that I don't have to repeat all this again tomorrow. Its all circumstantial and needs to be verified, but the evidence is pretty solid. North Korea is doing a lot of forceful brain-surgery on per-pubescent children with the overt intention of turning them into the perfect concubines; ones that can preform but never comprehend or repeat what they have heard while servicing high-level clients. Severing all connections between the left and right hemispheres above the medula might be one way, they have imported some specialists who dabble in things that I don't even understand."

He gets up and pulls down one of those huge, out-dated wall maps. This one is about 9 feet across.
"Last line #2 was mentioned, several times. Now, even given the Korean penchant for oxy-morons, this stands out for me. See here, at the very base of the peninsula, this last narrow bit? I have it on good sources that the N'orks have done what both sides failed to do in 1950; they have prepared a defensive line here, in favorable terrain in the last place a battered army could make a stand before the front spreads out to the usual Asian vastness. Now, considering the usual Communist priorities, there would be three large Hospital complexes to the rear, but not so far to the rear that Party members would die en route in unacceptable numbers. #2 would logically be in the middle. Here-"

The place on the map he points to is Nakpo-ri.
"The medical center there is about triple what that place would require, by the standards of a Developed nation. Suspicious, isn't it?"

He sits down and pours you both a drink after you both study the map and the distances involved.
        "There is something else."
Vondonna gives him a look, irked that Damien is telling Chris so much so recently after she was put in her place for saying too much. Damien just nods at the way Chris is visually dissecting the map, and looking ahead to this mission.

"There are hints that this is also being done with an eye towards producing psychics, somehow. Knowing the North, they would not flinch at 50 dead kids in exchange for one mind-reader. I mention this because other intelligence services have been scooping up people they suspect of having that sort of "gift". Yes, they must be mad, but one of the people on their lists is your friend, that Sue.... Sushi person. Witchcraft? Yeah, right, Its going to be an interesting conversation at lunch tomorrow. I suggest you get some rest, its almost midnight."

Chris ponders his questions. "You're talking about a raid on a scale that makes Desert One look like a walk in the park. Do you know how many kids are in there, how many commandos you'd need to temporarily secure the compound, transport assets locally or brought in?" Chris continues, his mind in full on planning mode from older times. "What sort of local air defense is there, ground defense? Are guards fixed or roving or both? What sort of response force can they muster in fifteen minutes? An hour? What sort of assets do we have to build a strike team, a recovery team, an extraction team?" Chris is actually counting on his fingers as he works out everything for doing a raid on the most militarized and paranoid country on earth.

"Its a good thing we are not going in a hurry then, isn't it?" He smiles, and so does Vondonna. They have similar looks, aware of the dangers but confident.
"Someone, or rather, several someones, are going to have to go in ahead and scout the situation out. Needless to say, they would have to do so without giving anything away.
"Now, there are two ways to do that. The way you are thinking of, or the way that your Sushi-girl makes possible. If she really is a psychic, that opens up all sorts of options, doesn't it?"

((Chris will undoubtedly have a thing or two to say at that point))

(He may also be wondering what the real capabilities of one over-the-hill man, a couple of female house-guests, and a gang of suave and.or violence-prone kids might be...)
Vondonna; "Don't doubt us, or even the youngest of us. Kasakabe was a great help in Sinope and Moldova, but at each place there were just 4 of us involved. My late sister and I took out 11 thugs and corrupt police and still managed to evacuate 20 foundlings to the Black Sea."

Anyone less astute than Chris might have missed it; Vondonna has been playing the overly-chatty girl to draw him out.
Since it happened well before you left the States, Chris probably heard something about that night. Both operations happened within hours of each other, both involved the deaths of dozens of criminals. Sinope was covered up in a massive and clumsy effort, but Moldova was the end of a major sex-slavery gang.

Damien; "Yes, this is a much more serious thing we are contemplating here, we will not rush into this, and I am working to get us the hardware we need to see this through. But I think you will agree, what they are up to cannot be allowed to continue. Nukes are one thing, but when a nation descries to go all Special Unit 731 on a bunch of stolen children, its time to clean house."

                Just as an aside-

Lori tells her "While you will have eternal youth you will also have serious issues with those around you.
Somehow, that does not seem like much of a change in Revy's life.

Setting up for a meeting, March 16

This is for after Dutch has gotten Revy and Kasakabe sorted out, you have a couple of hours before the big gathering.
(Damien might have shown some interest in your serum, Lori, but now that its ready its the last thing he wants to talk about.)

This might be the only time all these people are in one place, and its happening in the Trophy room downstairs. Its nice and cool there, quiet, and some interesting relics to look at while you snack on the fruits and seafood laid out on a temporary table in the middle of the room. Present are Damien, Vondonna, Luchaan, Dannon and Zel from the household. Kasabe, Lori and Kotomi should be there as well... and Dutch should have his whole crew as well. Sushi (sushulana's new name since yesterday) and Kendra will be there with Chris... the "elf" looks a little ill and might not be saying much.

That is a pretty good crowd as it is, if you want to include anyone else tell me now. And yes, there is an open liquor cabinet for those that feel the need to drink in the middle of the day. More will than won't, if this goes the way I think it might...

There is just enough room for everyone, and this room is kept bug-free by a variety of means. For instance; when you enter Damien is on the phone with someone he calls "Mother" ("Yes, I'm sure Ricco can handle it, that's why I sent him to you. Now, top off the Swede and check the batteries... no, yes. If Hotel Moscow thinks so, then I need to remind them who I am.") and when he is done with it he tosses the phone into a dumb waiter and sends it up to ground level.

He's been cleaning his personal weapon, something none of you have seen yet. Its a Gold-plated Desert Eagle, with a Rampant Dragon running down the slide. Yes, just like the one the old lady at the Church has. He loads the clips with 7.92mm Kurtz rounds (yes, like from an MP-44) alternating between two boxes. One box is Remington loads with a little lead showing at the tip. The other box is marked in Cyrillic with the code for a.p.i.
Only a handful of Eagles were so modified, by a deranged gunsmith in Macau who vanished (ahem) shortly after China took that port over from the Portuguese.

Like I said, this meet won't start until after you are all done with your other little gatherings.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm glad you all could make it. This is a sort of get-to-know-you luncheon, and I'm glad to know that some of you have already met and hopefully exchanged a few good words.
And, this is also my forst 'what are we going to do about North Korea's version of the Island of Doctor Moreau."

--- something for Chris; Vondonna might have sounded like she was boasting when she told you she and her late sister took out 11 of the worst thugs Turky had to offer. She wasn't, but she didn't tell you how they did it.
Simple put, they lead them down a series of alley-ways too narrow for cars, and stayed ahead of them because the thugs never realized they were chasing 2 identical girls running in relay (unfortunately a trick we can't use again) and the chase ended in an alley lined with Claymores.

Other tricks these people like to use are various Gasses and the indoor use of flamethrowers... the later becomes feasible when you have an LPO-50 with the 3rd tank replaced with a foam-tank, and use Scott air-packs to breath with.
A young Gypsy-looking gal named Zel filled you in on that.

Lori brings a jammer and detection equipment if you are worried about electronic bugs and such... "Normal procedure..." she tells him. "I do not think anyone other than Kasakabe and I have meson communications equipment on this world. I have not detected any so far."

I could use coordinates (long. lat. down to minutes of degree) for the location of this camp before hand. So discussing things as Lori will be easier.

                          Lagoon rides in the Gravcoupe.

Lori left with Revi late that night for a flight in the gravcoupe.
“You better not ing with me and this better be good!” Revi sneers thinking that the ride will be nothing special and probably just BS.
“Understood” Lori replies making sure Revi’s harness is properly in place. She is sitting on a towel Lori put down and there are bags available, just in case.

Lori moves the vehicle out of the shed as Dutch, Kasakabe, Kotomi, and Dannon watch her rise up then shoot off at high acceleration low over the trees headed out to sea. Lori keeps the speed down to a couple hundred knots until well out to sea.

“We need to be clear of detection before we can climb to orbit” she tells Revi.
Revi looks at her unimpressed. “Okay, so far it’s nothing but a flying car…”

As she says that Lori barrel rolls the Isotta three times then puts it into a maximum G vertical climb. They are pushed back into their seats and the vehicle is gaining altitude rapidly. Passing 12,000 meters Lori pushes the vehicle up to over Mach 4 and continues to accelerate as the atmosphere thins.

“:Censored:!” Revi exclaims “You weren’t !”

In just shy of 6 minutes the gravcoupe is now in low orbit. The vehicle is now in zero G.

Lori looks at her “Ready” she asks as the vehicle slams ahead at nearly 11 g in a hard turn as it rolls. It then pitches up and enters a series of harder and harder twisting, spinning, and jinking maneuvers. The stars outside are a spinning blur. Revi has no idea where the planet went as it isn’t in view.
Revi hurls. Lori stops. They are now sitting at 462 kilometers above the planet.
Recovering Revi demands “You did that on purpose didn’t you !”

Lori just looks at her, sticks out her tongue and gives her the evil eye.

“Okay, I get it. I deserved that.” Revi replies chastised. “So where are we?”

“A stable orbit at 500 kilometers above Terra” Lori replies turning the vehicle to show Revi. She turns the vehicle and heads back to land. “We need to return so that Mister Dutch…”

                          “It’s just Dutch” Revi says.

“My apologies. Understood. I will attempt to remember to greet him like that in the future” Lori replies quietly.

“Hey, I get it. You’re not totally human and all that so I’ll cut you some slack. It’s obvious Dutch does when you say that to him.”

                          “Thank you.”

Just under an hour later they are back on the ground. “It is your turn… Dutch.” Lori says offering him a seat in the vehicle.

Revi all excited “Dutch! You are not going to believe it until you are up there! Space baby! I went into space like some astronaut! That is so cool!”

“I am pleased you enjoyed your ride… Revi.”
“Yea, when you get back you are going with the K and me drinking!”

Lori gets in the vehicle. “Let me help you with the harness…”

Andy you can fill in Dutch's response to his ride

Has the craft fly out over the watter and a prety low speed for jet never mind a space ship that can reach the moon I only a few hours dutch takes this time to look arround in side. A lot of it is common sence but most is to strange to under stand.

Dotch hears a warning from lori but befor he can ask what is going on. The pull up in to a vertcal climb. Breaking the sound barrier in a few metters they begin the climb.
"Well this thing is deventaly fast"

Has they get close to the end of earths atmophsere dutch looks out. You can clearly see the curving of the planet and clouds.
"Is the view just has magnifcent for the 2 of you or are you so used to it all ready?"

"I have been to sixty two star systems, including this one" Lori replies in "pilot voice."
"For me the most beautiful planet is the one I live on in my own time, Mariposa in the Factory Rock system. I believe you would like the world Dawntide. It is a tropical paradise using current termonology.
I very much wish to return there. Until that day comes I will serve as Intelligence Officer here in the service of those who are helping me achieve that goal as you and Mister Damien are.
As for this vehicle's speed it is theoretically limited to one-half the speed of light and will realistically attain one tenth the speed of light in operation."

When Dutch goes to light up a cigarette Lori points out the "NO SMOKING" sign she installed because others had tried before.
"Please do not smoke here. It is not that it is dangerous but rather extremely unpleasant for me to have to suffer through that experiance. It is just my senses are far more sensitive to things than a human's." She smiles pleasantly. "Thank you."
